The United States is home to some of the most beautiful landmarks in the world and whoever chooses to discover and admire them has to spend a great amount of time and money. But travel expert and blogger Derek Low found a brilliant train route to follow for the ultimate train journey, covering 3,400 scenic miles from San Francisco to New York and showing the most beautiful sights that will not cost you a fortune. Travelers will have the chance for just $213 dollars to take a scenic trip on the Amtrak, with so many beautiful landmarks and environments to admire.
The trip from San Francisco to Chicago cost about $130 if you buy California Zephyr tickets and if you want to see more of the country, you can transfer to the Lake Shore Limited train for an additional $83, making you spend in total $213.
The inexpensive trip, which Derek shared on his blog, will take you through cities like Salt Lake City, Denver, Chicago, and New York, and you will have the opportunity to admire some of the most beautiful sights such as the Times Square, Hudson River, Rocky Mountains, Moffat Tunnel, Sierra Nevada Mountains, Millennium Park, and Fisherman’s Wharf.
But if you are willing to pay a little more so as to travel more days and see more things, you can follow Derek’s trip .He paid $429 in 2011 for a 15-day rail pass, choosing a train trip with more stops so that he could spend some time in the cities he passed along the way.
